Turn the damn music up!

Ah finally, wrapping up Act 1 of William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, our star-crossed lovers, finally laid eyes and lips on each other at the Capulet feast in Act 1.5.

My boy Romeo really needed this too. See, his last I guess you could say crush, Rosaline, basically rejected his ass. He was all sad, depressed, and heartbroken, all that fun stuff. But like any good cousin, Benvolio was not about to let Romeo suffer any longer. Benvolio tries to get the message across that there are other fish in the sea by telling Romeo to "examine other beauties" (1.1.236) at the Capulet feast. Romeo did find himself another beauty indeed. Such a beauty that he questions "did my heart love till now?" (1.5.59) after literally just laying his eyes on her. No shame, been there done that. Anywho, it truly was love at first sight.

Romeo was quick to persuade Juliet, finding loopholes in everything she was saying. Like when she said "Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer."(1.5.113) He responds by saying "O then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do."(1.5.114) Flirty guy isn't he, and miss Juliet isn't so innocent either since she's playing hard to get.

This magical interaction between Romeo and Juliet, definitely left Romeo playing "Love Is Only A Feeling" by Joey Bada$$ from his 2017 album Too Lit.

The rapper "Can't help observe and stare" at his girl, which Romeo can't help either. Romeo was eyeballing Juliet big time. Once he laid his eyes on her, there was no going back, he was hooked. Romeo went on about how "she doth teach the torches to burn bright!" (1.5.51). Romeo is saying how Juliet stands out among everyone else because how bright she is in his eyes.

The sixth line of the song says "I mean she so perfect". This is obviously how Romeo feels about Juliet when he first laid his eyes on her. He refers to her as "true beauty" (1.5.60), and how shes "a snowy dove trooping with crows" (1.5.55). Romeo sees her as top tier compared to other "crows" aka women. The line, "Everything I want in a girl", also holds onto the concept of how Romeo believes Juliet is top tier.

The rapper wants to see his girl "shine like the gem that you are", which is exactly how Romeo thinks of Juliet. "Shes a rich jewel in an Ethiop’s ear" (1.5.53), so basically Juliet shines bright.

Romeo was really trying to kiss Juliet with his "two blushing pilgrims" (1.5.106) but all she did was talk and play hard to get. She even tried to have a "holy palmers kiss" (1.5.111) and Romeo was trying to "let lips do what hands do." (1.5.114) so when the rapper said "Look, girl you talk too much, need to relax", Romeo really felt that because he was trying to make their lips meet asap but miss Juliet wouldn't shut up.

Towards the end of the song, the line "I'm so into you" is said, Romeo is obviously into Juliet, he even questioned if "[his] heart love[d] till now?" (1.5.59). Juliet really swept him off his feet.

I guess the only line Romeo can only pray comes true is "And it's a matter of time until her last name mine". Good luck with that buddy, shes a Capulet and all, so her hand in marriage is like asking for a death wish. But let's not think about that, are we replaying the song or what?
